Internet on the Go (also at Walmart) costs a little more but doesn't expire. E.G. 500 Mb costs $10. But 500Mb will last me 6 - 9 months, And it just sits there available, I don't have to turn any settings on or off. For me, a lot cheaper than any plan I have to renew because data expires. - GREGORYJExplorerT-Mobile 4G Mobile MiFi from Walmart is about $85 , the stick is less.

We just returned from an 8 week trip that covered most of the western states. It's surprising how well the coverage is no matter where you are. Before we left I purchased for about $8 an app for my phone that allows me to create a hot spot, or what I like to use is use my "tether." Even when we were at parks with WiFi, I used my tether. My tether or hot spot is faster and safer than any parks WiFi.
Look on the internet for a tether app for a one time charge or call your phone company who more than likely can provide you with the service on a continuing basis. - jcpainterExplorerInstead of specifying Century Link, I should have said "the local phone company". Almost all phone companies now offer decent speed (10+ Mbps) DSL with unlimited data usage and you don't have to buy any equipment. Not all campgrounds are set up to offer phone service or private cable service though.
- wayfunExplorerI checked with CenturyLink today and they don't service the part of Florida that we will be in. One option that I am considering is changing our mobile phone plan to one which will allow tethering of our Iphone with LTE service. And when we get home I can switch back to our standard plan and not need to buy any additional hardware. It will just cost an additional $25 for that month.
Dennis - sdianel_-acct_cExplorerVerizon Wireless has daily, monthly or long term internet access.
- joebedfordNomad IIIf the campground has cable you probably can get Roadrunner for a month.
- RoyBExplorer IIIt was always bad for us to depend on the WIFI services around the camp gorunds we go to and of course when camping off thepower grid like we do alot where there is definitely no WIFI servcie available. OUr best deal was to get the VERIZON MIFI back them and still have it today... Back then it $27 for a 3GB dataplan plan. It seems like most of these sevices are now going for around $50-$60 a month for 5GB dataplans. We found VERIZON being the best carrier for the way back in the woods places we go to... Now we don't worry about poor WIFI services here and there. The VERIZON MIFI unit for us is also a great back-up internet that always seems to work whereever you are located at. Certainly replaces my old days NETZERO Dial UP backup internet...
When we are sitting on the beaches watching the surf come in the small MIFI units slips right into your shirt pocket and runs all of the WIFI enabled Tablets etc you brought with you.
ALot of folks really like the Millenicom Mobile PRE-PAY Internet system which uses the VERIZON Network.
Roy Ken - TubaPeteExplorerIf you are going to Walmart, they have Internet on the Go which is a prepaid plan. Good for email and such. Will not stream video or other large data activities.
- jcpainterExplorerx3 For using Century Link in Florida.
We winter in Florida and I wouldn't want to stay in a campground that couldn't offer DSL or personal cable for internet.
It's so nice to have unlimited data that's truly high speed. Just rent a wireless modem/router from the company for a few bucks a month and you're good to go.
One bit of advice. Start calling early to find out if a phone company services individual sites at any given campground. Then call their LOCAL office to get it installed. It can be challenging, but well worth it.
