tv cable connector

I had a tv fall during travel and the cable connector got broken off the back of the tv. I would like to know if they make a connector that goes from the cable to male rca jacks to be able to hook the tv back up. I have searched but could not find anything. Does anyone know if such a thing is made. Thanks for any help possible. Jeff.

  • Jeff is right

a picture is "worth a forum thread" to paraphrase an old phrase

a pix of your damage will tell us a lot more
  • Lots of different answers and I'm not sure I understand the question. It is/ was not uncommon to use RCA connectors as an input to the internal tuner and take a piece of coax to an F connector on the rear (RCA was a very common connector in communications equipment for 50 years). If that's what you're trying to get to its an easy fix.

Other than that, need more info
  • there are many 'adapters' for fittings

    that is not the problem

the rca jacks on the TV are for video & audio signals
    NOT
    for RF antenna/cable TV signals

you can buy adapters for a few dollars, but you won't get a picture
because the TV video input will ignore the RF signal

    you can replace TV
    repair TV
    use some aux 'TUNER/converter'
  • It is the tv anrennna input connector that is secured to the tv. Not the cable connector. I will take it apart to see if I can put a new one in. I saw a video on you tube about doing it. Thanks for your replies.

The answer as asked is NO.. the antenna connection is Radio Frequency, the RCA connectors are Base Band audio and video

The antenna connection is very very very low voltage (Measured in thousands of a volt) the RCA's are 1 volt Peak to Peak.

It is possible to go in and solder on a new connector, or solder on a pig-tail and put a connector on the end of that (I have one done that way)

But the only way to convert from ANT to the RCA is to use an external tuner and treat the TV as a "Studio Monitor" (Using A/V in).. This will work.

Digital Video Recorders (modern one) SAT-TV receivers and such will work for many signal sources.

A VCR will work as a "Front End" for Cable (Both digital and analog in some cases)

And a Digital OTA converter for Over the air.
  • My kid broke one off and I took the TV apart and soldered a new one on.

What broke - normally the TV's have the TYPE F female screw on type connector for the TV ANTENNA INPUT and RCA PHONO type connectors for other inputs.... TV antenna input connector looks similar to this on the back of the TV

Did the chassis connector on the TV itself get pulled out or maybe just the TYPE F MALE connector on the end of TV cable going to the TV SET get pulled off...

If the cable end got pulled off the cable that goes to the TV set this should be will be a easy fix with a new like connector from radio shack. This is a screw on cable plug - no tools required

    Need more info what broke...

  • I have never seen an F (f) to RCA (f). So you need THIS, and a RCA (f) to RCA (f) adapter in series also.
