Good Afternoon, After taking a break from RV-ingwe are just taking possession of a 2019 Salem Cruise Lite 23 Ft travel trailer. We are hoping to see a bit more of this vast country we live in. We opted for a smaller rig having having a bigger 5th wheel and truck in the past. This trailer is set up for a T.V. but we need to look for one. I am thinking a TV/DVD combo. My question is....Should I be looking for an RV TV or picking one up from Best Buy/Walmart. It will be securely mounted on the wall in a permanent bracket( no swing arm.Hoping anyone can advise ....Eric

I suggest you purchase a separate TV and Blu-ray player. You will end up with a much better TV and a player capable of playing DVDs and Blu-ray discs. If the drive in a combo unit dies, you will have to buy an new TV.

I've had both and would choose two separate units because I've never seen a TV/BluRay player combo unit. I have two of each and they are 12v, harder and harder to find but draw less from battery is boondocking.

In 2007 when we bought our first RV, I bought a combo TV/DVD. In less than a year, the vibrations from driving down the road destroyed the DVD player. The manufacturer replaced it under warranty. It was destroyed so effectively it couldn't be fixed. Thereafter, whenever I was going to drive the RV, I took the TV/DVD down and laid it on the bed. It was still working fine 10 years later when I replaced that RV and gave the TV/DVD to one of the kids.

I used a similar combo in our old trailer and it worked fine. Couldn't do bluray however.

I have had One like this in my RV for over 7 years with no problems at all,it is very handy to have and it fits into a small area and I don't have a lot of wires to hookup as you would with separate components.I would shop around to find one that fits your needs.

I try to keep it as simple as I can with the RV,at home it is a different story,there I have plenty of room for lots of components and lots of places to plug them in.where the RV it is limited.

X2 - Best Buy sells a small Sony Blue ray player that can fit in little places. I've got one for the camper and one for the house.

You can find them on Amazon; we had the combo in our old trailer and it came in handy, we liked it very much. Don't know if they now come in Blu ray but that would be way to go. We found ours, a 24", for about $180 on Amazon but that was about 5 years ago.

However, like other said, the combo units are not the best way to go.

I too recommend against the combo units.. The DVD/Blue ray player WILL FAIL far sooner than the TV. and well. easier to replace the player itself than the entire combo unit.

get what you like from walmart or best buy etc..

i prefer separate components, cheaper and easier to replace if something stops working
