Is this update ok to do? My new iPad is telling me it's available.

DW put this update on her iPad a week or so ago, and hasn't complained about anything.YMMV, but I haven't read about any problems on line.Of course, always backup before updating, so that you can drop back in case of difficulty.

No problems here with either Iphone or IpadDo not see any difference at allAdmin

Updated my iPad and iPhone the other day. No problems so far.

Maybe I'll give it a shot, but I dont think that there is an IOs7 backout any longer. They (Mac World) were citing speed issues, and I already have noticable slowdowns with the IOS 8 apps, so this article scared me off.

These Benchmarks on ArsTechnica show that 8.1.1 is a little slower than 7.x.x but not significantly so. DW has been running 8.1.1 without issue for a couple of months. Not planning to upgrade to 8.1.2 since it does not show any advantages over 8.1.1 for us. Version 8.0 had definite issues for 4S.

some on one of the Yahoo iPad lists are reporting major battery issues after upgrading to 8.1.2 but others are not. seems to be an issue affecting just a few.
