I knew you'd know!
So should I really worry a lot? It seems so sweet, and I could probably rely on my aging Linksys to function as WiFi (as it had been doing) from the bedroom side of our 1900 sq-ft typical home.
A hard wire ethernet line is better, I know, to go from router in bedroom (we each have a computer in the two extra beedrooms) to the Tivo in the living room, and my guess is it would require a 60' length...I am scared to do it, and the $50 alternative power line sure looks like an easy-fix...I just found it today from Dong Gno
100ft premade Cat5 cable with ends installed runs $28 at Home Depot

If you don't need the full length of the cable you can simply roll it up and hide behind furniture.
50ft premade Cat5 can be had for $15 at Home Depot.
If you shop around on Amazon you most likely can get premade cables cheaper.
Nothing to be scared about running the cables other than perhaps needing to drill a hole?
Premade cables will require a bit bigger hole than bulk cable with no ends. The advantage is you don't need to buy a crimper, ends or spend time carefully matching the pairs.
I tend to shy away from drilling holes by reusing any existing holes, sometimes you can remove the phone jack and find a way to fish the wire up through the same route as the phone wire. In some cases like I mentioned cold air returns (hot ducts not a good idea though) work well.
