Put modem and router in bedroom and have a 50' ethernet cab;e strung from ceiling to make Tivo hookup to router yesterday.
This morning needed to reset router power again. So my focus on the powered amplifier in the attic has diminished a lot. I figured out I'd connect the desktop to router via wireless adapter, and the laptop to the router via ethernet cable. When it goes out again, I will go to the laptop to see if the wired connection is also off.
I guess this might point to the wireless radio failing? Any way to tell if it's the cable modem (Scientific American DPC2100R2) bui;t 2/2009?
I asked about it being DOCSIS2, and they said for our mid-level "Preferred" data of up to 25bps down and 5 Mbps up, it was OK. For most of the day, the hardwired laptop speed tests at 32/9, and the wireless desktop at 19/8.
