So, it had been maybe 10 hrs since I rebooted the router, and it was still connected giving a download speedtest of 18. So I did a Windows 'Repair', and got what I have come to expect - inability to reconnect. Go to laptop and it's still a hardwire 32 download, and when I turn its wireless radio on and unplug the hardwire, it cannot wirelessly reconnect either. Typical for the two XPs.
Reset router power, and the wireless desktop bumps up from 18 to 21 download Mbps. In a few hours, I'll wager it drops again.
