I know in the morning where I am going. I call Dish at 7:00am, tell them I have a Tailgater and ask them to change my service address AND to reset my locals to the new location. I keep the representative on the line until the old locals disappear in the guide and the new ones come in. Pack up everything for the trip. When I set up later in the day everything is ready for the new location. No re-booting just to get new locals guide data. I have never changed my zip code on the dish itself or done 611 pointing. When I plug it in I change the state if necessary and complete setup. I just returned from a 23 state trip and never had a problem. I have a stand alone PAYG plan so maybe that is different than most people.
A great way to solve the locals problem. I once tried to do it while we were driving and gave them a new zip code. Does not work that way because they have to send an authorization to your receiver which obviously must be on and hooked up to the cube.
The only problem we have doing it in advance is that we often have no idea where we will be spending the night.
