Thanks for the replies, I really do like my tailgater. I always get it to work, sometimes it won't find all 3 satellites, sometimes I have to keep rebooting the unit, and sometimes I have to search for satellites again in the AM after turning it off at night. The last time I had an issue was in Quartzsite with a wide open sky and rebooted it about 4 times without moving the unit and it started working perfectly. I have also moved it around trying to make it easier. Think I will remove the top and see if it spins and goes up and down.

I had the same problems as lj2654 and did the same with King Controls. I also had a bad motor. Shipped it back to King Control on my dime ($90), they made the repairs under warrantee (I was just over the 1 year mark), and they shipped it back. The Tailgater still didn't work. Call King Controls and they told me that they triple check their work and that it worked before they shipped it back to me. They told me to ship it back to them and they would recheck it. I told them that I was not going to spend another $100 to send it back. They emailed me a shipping label to send it back on their dime. I told them that I was very disappointed because I had only used the Tailgater twice during the 1st year I had it and had spent $400 to purchase it and now I was not going to be able to use it this RV season because it was being shipped back and forth across the country for months now. They told me that they would send me a unit to replace my unit.
Since I received the replacement unit I have not had any problems...but I have not been RVing yet (life got in the way). But what I did was hook it up to my TV in the basement to make sure that it works. It works great, and it has been up and running for about 4 months. I am pleased with the unit now.

We just picked up a Tailgater last week at the Tampa show, mainly because we like the on off ability with the Dish company as we're sometimes in areas for several months where no signal would be available. Also have met too many that have difficulty lining up their sat antenna on a tripod. We have been having the problem of losing signal when we turn it off and have to unplug and reboot the entire system. A PITA, not sure if it's the receiver not talking to the sat antenna or something else?

Tailgater works great so far. As long as I don't cut power it stays configured. I've been here for two weeks and haven't touched it. I have concerns about long term durability, but it is so convenient. We live in Missouri and now in RGV. Same good results.

I have had some of the same issues at times. After two months the first one I had stopped finding the satellites. I spoke to dish and troubleshot with no results.Then I was given King Controls number. I called them and explained what was happening. Told me to take top off the case, and unplug and wait 10 seconds, plug back in...watch Satellite and see what it does. It rotated side to side but no up and down adjustments. bad motor....sent me a label to ship back free to them.....they called me in four days and said they were replacing it under warranty and received a new one 3 days later. no issues since then....

Iam having the same thing happen as you have. This morning itcame right back on without any problems. Its a little spastic.

If tailgater can see satellite(s) then it finds them. Sometimes can't find all (most of the places where we camp have lots or trees -- 150 feet of extra coax is useful.) When I turn mine on in the morning, channels come up right away without any re-scanning. So I'm happy with it.

Mine developed a problem after three months, but King Controls replaced it with a new one, and did it very promptly. Happy with customer service. That was two years ago.
