Using Installed Apps on New TV

Ok, so I am new to this. We bought a Vizio Model E24-C1 television.

I was able to figure out how to get on our Wireless at home. Now I see all these Apps, like iHeartRadio, Pandora, and see some are free.

Do you just log into these places on your laptop first, get signed up...then you can use them on the TV?

Can you get on Internet Explorer on the TV and surf the web and sign on using the TV instead of the laptop?

I see Yahoo News app...do I surf from there?

Got a little learning curve here to understand how this works...thanks!

I think you can do it both ways but I set it up with the Laptop myself

For political reasons I will not go into I deleted I-Heart Radio.

But I love Pandora. .. also Pandora has the music I like where I-Heart did not.

I also had Live 365 but to get the music I want I need to pay way too much money to them (They did not used to be so greedy).

SUGGESTION: On your VIZO read the manual chapter a day, Study it, And KEEP IT, do not loose it.. Of all the TV's I've worked with VIZO is the hardest to use.
  • Thanks for the info. Appreciate it. Got my home wifi set up on the TV for Pandora, I need to see if I have unlimited data for that.

Pretty much would at least like the music when RV'ing but sounds like wifi will be limited at campground for that.
  • Smart, internet connected, TV's are great at home but can be a disaster on the road. If you use your own cellular connection it will eat up your entire months worth of data in a day or two. If you plan to use campground WiFi, it's usually too slow to stream anything and is often blocked so no streaming is allowed due to the high data usage required.

Can you get on Internet Explorer on the TV and surf the web and sign on using the TV instead of the laptop? No, IE is not on the TV. Each app on the TV has its own sign-in. Generally once you sign in you don't have to do it again.

First of all DO realize that these apps are running off your home wi-fi so they will burn through your data fast. Don't use them unless you have a very high data limit. You probably do if you have cable or Uverse internet.

You will have to connect the TV to your home wi-fi once. That is probably in the first "settings" screen.

I got stuck once and called Vizio support and they were actually very helpful.

Just jump in and do it. When you go to say something like Netflix... it will ask you about signing in. Use the arrow buttons on your remote to move a cursor to the sign in box. That will pop up a "keyboard" on the TV screen. Use your cursor to enter your sign-in info.

TIP: If you are signing up for a new service on a computer first, make your username and password simple and short, so it won't take forever to enter them on the TV.

I find it easiest to make my playlists, etc on the PC and then log in on the TV app. Your same info should be there on the TV app.
  • Thanks, I think I got it.

I opened an account for Pandora and got that to work on the TV. I will check out the other apps on-line on the computer and see what we want to use.

I thought you could get on Internet Explorer but I guess not.

    Appreciate the help.

You use the "smart remote" to surf to the specific sites on the TV, then you can log in if you have an account, or create a new account on the TV itself.

Yes, you can just click though to Yahoo News usually, using the smart remote control.

Some applications like Pandora, or iHeartRadio are easier to set up using your laptop/computer and some aren't.

I hope this information helps you with your new TV! Enjoy!
