- chiefneonExplorerHowdy!
We have Verizon share plan and last year when traveling in the Canidain Maritimes we added to our plan for $15 1000 minute talk time and I beleive unlimited texting but NO DATA. Data is expensive so be very careful to turn your data off.

Chiefneon - AprilWhineExplorerBe aware, if you have a grandfathered unlimited data plan, adding the Canadian calling plan will cancel your old plan.
- sdianel_-acct_cExplorerWe called Verizon and they added international calling for Canada. Reasonable rates. When we returned, we called and they cancelled it and prorated the month.
- SinnettcExplorer+1 what CA Traveler said, and +10 on the data piece. Make sure you know how to turn data off, and do it BEFORE you get to the border, 'cuz it's freaky expensive up there!
We visited friends in Kamloops BC over the US Thanksgiving and didn't really miss having data, we just used their wifi. I did buy myself a new Garmin GPS that included Canada before we went though. - CA_TravelerExplorer IIICall Verizon before you get to Canada and activate you phone for $15/month additional. Cancel after you leave. Nothing else like minutes, dialing will be any different. No country code to dial etc. It's almost like you never left the US. This is for phone only, not data.
ALMOST, but Canada has significantly less Telus cell towers especially the further north you go. But it works for us. On our Alaskan trip we just waited until we arrived at a town and used unsecured WiFi for the PCs. You can purchase a Canadian MiFi equivalent (I think) but it's very pricy. - MrWizardModeratoryou have two choices
you goto verizon and PAY for "international" add on
OR
you wait until you get to there and but a local prepaid phone
