Verizon JetPack or WiFi Extender

As you know, many campsites have a very weak WiFi. signal. So I am looking for a solution and am considering one of these two. Which do you feel offers the best signal? Others on the site have suggested Wilson Electronics for an extender. Thanks in advance for any ideas and suggestions.

I have both. Jetpack and Wilson Sleek. Work well together.

These are both for cellular signal. Neither are for wifi. The Sleek boosts the signal for the Jetpack.

    To OP,
Depends on how valuable your data connection is. You can never count on the CG wifi signal. If is the cheapest. MiFi costs. If you get both, you increase your cost of HW for wifi and data plan as well as your chance of a signal.

HW for a wifi extender ranges from $30 to several hundred.

If you need signal but want to keep data plan costs down, you will want both.
  • With Verizon service when we had 3G we definitely needed a booster/amplifier. With 4G service we only needed to be careful where we placed the Mifi to get the best reception (usually at a window).

We avoid campground WiFi as it is a public network for all intents and purposes and not secure. We only use it when we cannot get a 4G signal. In some cases we have had to hike up to the top of a hill above a campground to get a usable 4G signal and that was enough for us to check email once a day.
