Now this is strange. I've been giving Nord VPN a trial for one month. For almost a month it worked very well. Suddenly, yesterday, I couldn't get on the Internet. I tried shutting Nord off to see if that helped. No, still no Internet. As a last resort I completely uninstalled the program and voila! I got Internet back. I went back to my original VPN, tunnelbear, and now everything works correctly. It's baffling because Nord is among the highest rated VPN services. It required complete deletion of the product to get my PC working properly. I'm glad I only committed to one month rather than a year or more.

I haven't had good luck with VPN's either ... they are notoriously famous for slowing your internet connection with your ISP, but sometimes mine has shut down too. My last try was with Bitdefender with the random VPN protocol (& paid). With so many devices in the home needing internet access none of the VPN providers can keep up.My thinking is it's just not ready for prime time. A good solution, but lacking in refinement. I'm now back to strict firewall protection and no VPN until they can get their act together.

I used a VPN for work through AT&T for 13 years with no major issues. The commercial VPN products have been around a long time and work well. It's the consumer grade VPNs that have issues. The commercial ones are just expensive.

My subscription to PIA VPN is about to run out. I have to reset the connection multiple times per day, so I’m looking around for a different VPN. I can get by without one at home, but having one is a must on the the road. NordVPN is one of the ones I was considering.

Have you experienced any throttling or total bandwidth limitations? I could be using anywhere from 1 GB to 100GB per month, depending on pricing. Do they have an "unlimited" plan?

I've been using Nord VPN for over a year now. I use the Chrome extension version which is much more reliable than the stand-alone version that works with the Windows networking environment which seems to require frequent resets. Some websites (Amazon for example) refuse to connect through the VPN so I use MS Edge for those sites but I lose the advantages of having a VPN. Still when I must have privacy I'll stick with Nord on Chrome.

I had StrongVPN a while back. It's a little more costly but I experienced zero lag, and you can pick your server at will which is nice. They been doing it a long time.

Hello, Mortimer. I would try it for one month before committing to a longer period. That's what I did until I found I had to delete it to get my Internet back. The same may not happen to you. I know Nord is a good product. Just didn't work for me, though. I'm still experimenting with VPN's. Currently trying Windscribe (free trial). So far, no problems.

Definitely good advice. FYI, they do have a troubleshooting page for PC connectivity on their website.

It was installed about a month ago, maybe a little less. I would assume it's the latest version.

Funny thing is that Nord is installed on my newer laptop (HP) with same operating system (W10) and it's OK there. There must be a glitch in my Toshiba machine which caused the problem. Since I use the Toshiba a lot more than the HP, it's also possible an issue could arise in the future on the HP, but my one month subscription may be over by then. I'll probably stop experimenting and just stick with tunnelbear VPN, which I've been using for about 2 yrs.

OP here. I Just discovered something "funny" today. I'm using my newer HP laptop, running W10 plus Nord VPN and it's working normally whereas my other laptop, same OS, wouldn't work with Nord VPN installed. Getting stranger by the day. Maybe I need to give it more time since I don't use my HP machine as much as my Toshiba.

for email and banking OK
not enough to handle my monthly youtube viewing, might be OK for two days
not enough for even one netflix or amazon movie
maybe enough for me to do a 'trial' use

Let me add to the above post. You can download a free version of tunnelbear from their website to try it. It has all the features of the paid version, but is limited to the amount of usage for the month.
