It's a love hate relationship with most satellite and cable providers to say the least. DW can't live without it, but she sure complains when having to pay the bill. That I know of we have always paid monthly for each receiver whether it was Dish or Directv.
We have Netflix and Hulu Plus as well and they have some good stuff to watch, mentioned to my DW that we should cut Sat service, alas it will never happen as that is the first thing I have to set-up after unhitching our rig.
Don't expect change as they have no reason to, they have what we want and don't worry about disgruntled customers much. They may give small allowances from time to time, but in the end they always win everytime you pay your bill.
