Watching DVR without sat signal?
Have a Tailgater with 211z receiver. Trying to watch DVR programs without sat. signal and cannot get past the signal search menu. Jeff

You add an external hard drive with a separate power supply (some argue not necessary). You then call Dish, tell them you have added a hard drive and want to activate the DVR service. There is a 1 time $40 charge and you have have as many DVR's on the account as you want. Once the software is downloaded to your receiver you will have a signal tuner DVR. It won't work like a standard DVR where you can watch one channel and record another but it will DVR whatever channel it is tuned to.
