Weather station .....any ideas

Looking for a "weather station" that has enough sensors that I can see what the temp is for...

-Frig
-Freezer
-inside RV temp
-outside temp
-Frig/freezer (with sensor near burner that would shut off (cut power?) to frig/freezer around 500 degrees.

Anybody know what to buy? Any info would be helpful.

Thanks
  • I have looked for this myself, and so far, the only ones I have found will only take two sensors. Also, the extra sensors cost as much as or more than the unit. I am sure you might find something on the commercial market. I use a "Weather Station" with an outside sensor that does time, temperature, air pressure and humidity and has min-max memory. I use another small unit with a sensor in the freezer, and shows room temps that I place next to our thermostat. Just a small plastic unit in the fridg. I do have a unit that years old, came from Radio Shack, and reads 3 sensors. I bought the extra two sensors for it, and have used it for many long years, but it will only read two now.
  • Fridge should have high temp cutoffs already installed, although at 500 degrees, an fire extinguisher might be a better choice.
  • 1st, you will never find a weather station with that many sensors. I've never seen more than two :(
2nd you will certainly never find a weather station that will measure anywhere remotely close to 500 degrees none less a trip switch. The Norcold fail safe switch a ready does this now that they've figured out how to make them right. Just add Halon
  • I have seen 4 channel indoor/outdoor thermometers before, but the extra sensors are expensive. As others have already stated, the 500* is going to be a deal breaker for this type thermometer. I'm not sure what temperature range the thermal sensors in a dryer work, but you should be able to rig up something to do what you want for the auto shutoff. I just see that being separate from the multi channel weather station.
  • I'm working on something similar to the OP's request... just a hobby project for my trailer because I like to tinker with such things.

It's just called dashboard right now, but it supports up 64 wired and wireless sensors; temperature, volt meters, ammeters, humidity sensors, light sensors, open-closed switches, GPS logging and as well as on-off relays.

Designed to work with a tablet or smart phone it is HTML 5 browser based... powered with a tiny embedded computer called a BeagleBone.

A database logs all this information; not sure what to do with the logs, but they're there.
  • Camping world has a weather station that you can add up to 3 sensors
  • This ARP Safe would take care of the hot side of the refrigerator and he can add options that could cover all your bases. I visited with him when he was in Quartzsite and it is a very nice product.
  • Check with Davis Instruments. Their stuff is a bit pricey, but it works great. I know that it is used in agriculture applications such as multiple greenhouses.
  • Oregon Scientific.

Oregon Scientific WMR200 THGR810 Professional Weather Center, They also have some others. This is the real deal.

For additional weather monitoring, the weather station can support up to ten remote sensors
