Western Digital "Cloud" device
I did not want to distract from the topic about on-line backup so I wanted to know if this device is anything special or just another hard drive backup. I would like to be able to keep all the device...

It's a wifi hard drive with good software. It must be affiliated with your network, and it will then store info from other devices on that network. Can even mirror an entire computer if you want it to. You can remotely access info on the My Cloud from anywhere you have an internet connection. Takes the appropriate software or app on your remote access point. Your network router must be up and running for this to happen, so if you go away, don't turn off the router or disconnect your internet connection if you want to access data on the Cloud. At the present time, its a one drive device. The future will bring multiple drive units with RAID capability, so your backup will have a backup.
