Western Digital "Cloud" device
I did not want to distract from the topic about on-line backup so I wanted to know if this device is anything special or just another hard drive backup. I would like to be able to keep all the device...

Just be aware that an onsite backup on your network doesn't protect you from something like a lightning strike or a burglary or a fire or some virus attacks - unless you back up your backup device on a separate drive that you store in your safe deposit box or somewhere else secure.
