My only complaint about those units is that all your precious data is kept away from hackers by just one password. Someone can keep guessing at it unless the drive is smart enough to block IPs spamming it, and I doubt most of these "cloud" drives are that sophisticated.
Instead, if I wanted to access data at home, I'd probably look into a router that supports VPN connections, which generally is a lot more secure than a glorified NAS. Another solution is Dropbox (which can be set to require two factor access so a stolen password doesn't give an attacker automatic access.)
