Looking on ebay, it seems your battery may be old enough that prices have hit bottom and bounced back up. Unless there are other models of Gateways that use the same battery, and show up better in searches. I did not check that.
If you are looking at paying upwards of $30 for a battery, you might consider whether you could get a slightly newer used laptop or tablet for the same $$, and whether that would serve you better.
Tell us more about your setup -- is it inconvenient to just run off a power cord? Why so?
In my life, laptops of a cetain age are plug in only, because of the short battery time. (Eventually, it is measured in seconds.) But your life is different.
Edited to add: A non-refurb battery for an old laptop is going to be a battery that has sat in a warehouse for many years. Why is that better? (Inquiring minds want to know, as we used to say in the 80s.)
