Get a powered USB 2.0 hard dish, turn off your 211, connect the USB drive to the 211, power up both USB drive and 211 . . . after a bit a message should appear telling you where to call to enable the DVR option.

Actually tried reading the manual. It is so generic it is practically useless---and nowhere does it discuss this feature.
