Wifi and park rules

No. I have a wifi amplifier/router and have no such problems.
If it's a free wifi shouldn't make any difference.
I can understand if it's a paid subscription wifi service provided by a third party.

Some WiFi rules are outdated at some of the parks.

I have stayed at a few parks where the WiFi provider will monitor usage and throttle back your bandwidth if they feel you are using too much and affecting the total bandwidth available.

If the campground pays for it but it's free to campers, someone (the campground) pays for it.

Some repeaters/access points have an option where you can specify whether to broadcast your ID. You can still connect it just isn't visible to others.

I gave up depending on the campground WIFI setups a long time ago... We have good luck with our VERIZON MIFI unit that produces a 'secure' hot spot for up to five of our devices... I only use the internet to check in with the kids, pay a few bills and do some very limited browsing of the internet. the 3GB monthly plan is not big enough to do any downstreaming. I think a typical movie of HDTV program will use around 1GB per hour of data... Mine is a grandfathered older unit and only has a 3GB monthly data plan which is great for us to use.

Don't have to blend in with the other wifi crowd at all using the mifi unit... We are out around the patio fire pit playing with the tablets and all and folks will come up and ask how we are getting thru the camp ground wifi. Then I tell them we bring our own WIFI Hot Spot with us...

Verizon for us seems to have the best coverage area at the places we camp at most of the time...

My mifi unit sits in a Wilson Sleek Cradle which has an outside antenna. Works great for us everywhere we go to...

I have an app, assume rv park does as well, that will show every item connected to my wifi. It lists the type of product (laptop, dvr, router,etc) and assigned ip address. I use it to be sure unauthorized persons are not connected to my wifi. We do have wps security but just want to be sure. Belt and suspenders.

So the park can tell if you have a router connected.

A router is not necessarily a repeater.

If the parks rules concern you, discuss your specific equipment with park management. If there is a problem, go elsewhere.

Need Internet.........provide your own connection

WiFi at CG/Parks are limited at best.

And when you get one yahoo streaming then whole system slows down......bandwidth hogs
We FTd for 7 yrs and had an 'air card' for our OWN internet connection/usage via Verizon
That is old school now......easier/better options so just get your own and forget about park WiFi

I use Fing-Network Tools to see if anyone by chance has accessed my router.
Also, when on a public wifi, I like to see who else is on.

One thing is that most repeaters all try to use the same hard-wired IP address, and on any network, that can create havoc and deny useage to everyone. Use your on private internet connection.
