I had one guy tellme that the speed limit signs were inadequate! the fact is that the county park roads fell under the same scope as county roads throughout the county and the signs were posted accordingly as required for size shape and color! More than one violater swore that there was no rule or sign forbidding ATV's, it was on the registration envelope as well at the registration booth! That with all the other violators would tell me we need a big FRICKEN sign posted! To the op subject. Most who let they're dogs off leash with the 6 ft limit would claim that their dog would never bite anyone and so the rule did not apply to their dog! Famous last words of a fool! OH! And that wa another of the rules that we needed a big fricken sign for! To accomadate all those big fricken signs would have meant the park be all giant bill boards for the rules! REALLY!!!

Just a heads up for visitors to the North Coast:

Our dog has been viciously attacked by an off-leash dog at our CG (membership RV park). He does not know how to defend himself but fortunately the owner was able to get his dog under control quickly enough. A co-worker of DW had his family jewels chomped by an off-leash dog and bad enough to have to get stitches. Cops attended but the Canadian owners high-tailed it back to Canada with the cops in pursuit. Both incidents in the same CG (our membership CG) in the same season and we think it may have been the same bulldog. This CG has dog rules but they refuse to enforce them, put signage up or remind people when they sign in. Our dog is now skittish at the CG when we walk him there.

We have no respect for anyone who isn't responsible enough to keep their dog on a leash. We won't hesitate to report it and won't hesitate to call the cops if needed. We carry bear spray with us (attached to leash). I'm almost tempted to carry a big stick sometimes. Could easily be a small child that gets attacked too.

it ain't about whether or not you were offended. I bet the park has other rules that, when broken, would offend you and not others. should those rules be enforced simply because others were not offended?

I'm sorry that you see the dog on the beach as a crisis or even and issue.
Other than the rule there was no harm done, no foul.
The whole episode does not upset me when I hear of it on the internet nor would it bother me if I witnessed it in person.
I don't own a campground. I'm there to relax and enjoy myself. I trust the owners have personnel there to enforce the rules so I don't have to.
If the dog is causing a problem I have no problem speaking up, but if the dog is just swimming at the beach I have no cause for concern.

not a crisis but flagrant violations are an issue. we had a name for folks like you when I was working...we called you 'defendants'. :)

So do you ban dogs from the beach, people from the beach or waves from the beach? Accidents happen and people die. Sounds like the problem was the teenager and his parents, the dog is fine. If there was a leash law for teenagers, everyone would be alive today.
If you would like some links about feral cats decimating the bird population, a quick Google search would locate them for the "un-imformed".

Although I realize that some of your post was tongue in cheek, if you ever decide to open/buy that campground, please put me down as your first customer! And the disclaimer is that I love dogs. I can't stand many of their owners.
