Wilson Sleek/Verizon Jetpack 4629 compatibility

We're here camped out in the Rockies W of Denver trying to use our cellphone/computer. Without the Sleek, we're dead in the water! There's no problem inserting the cellphone into the Sleek, but the Jetpack is another story! Are the 'grabbers'/holders necessary OR can I just lay the Jetpack on top of the Sleek? If I keep using the 'grabbers', they will eventually break, I'm sure. I may give Wilson a call too. Thanks. Jim

  • I just removed the plastic holders and use a rubber band.

  • When I plug the 4620 directly into the Wilson Trucker Antenna, I get a 3db-4db increase. When using the Sleek, the increase the last time I checked was 21db.

Since conditions change, particularly because I'm in a weak 3G only area, I just went out to the trailer & ran the tests again. Today -98db with the 4620 alone, -95db with the antenna connected directly to the 4620, and -82db with the 4620 in the Sleek & the antenna connected to the Sleek.

I'm not sure what you mean by "coupler" but the Sleek gain specifications are available here.

Depending on how weak your local signal is, it may provide as much as 28db gain. In my case, using a Wilson Trucker antenna, adding the Wilson Sleek changed the readings on the 4620 from -101db to -80db, a gain of 21db.
the phone/ MiFi RF is coupled into the sleek. In the case of the 4620, it has an external antenna Jack. So that's the curiosity; which works better?

  • Just call me dumbheaded! Those little holder/grabbers can be moved into different slots which makes it possible to hold both Jetpack and dumbphone. The rubber band 'trick' sounds good also. Thanks for your help. The tech from Wilson told me this a.m. that the base of the Jetpack/cellphone has only to lie flat against the Sleek flat side.
At any rate, I'm a big supporter now of the Sleek! It saved the day! jim

  • I have to assume you are talking about a 4620 NOT a 4629, as I find no reference to a 4629 anywhere. Our 4620 fits fine in the sleek and we have 3 extra sets of grabbers that came with the sleek, so I have a problem understanding what your complaint is....:?

I think the SLEEK will work within a few inches around the built-in antenna. Use a rubber band to hold it close...

My Verizon Mifi model 2200 fits the Wilson Sleek just fine. I thought the jetpack used the same type MIFI units.

Looks like thie Verizon 4g mifi unit...

Here is a photo from google showing the 4620L mounted in a wilson sleek cradle
