Windows 10 PC staging work slow-down

Just fishing for thoughts from those that know more about computers than I do... I have a 3 year old Dell All-in-One Desktop computer that came with Windows 7/8? but was upgraded to Windows 10 by Dell.. As luck would have it, it is the DW's.. Within the last few months, its' performance has slowed to a crawl in most cases.. I have installed and run Malwarebytes (paid version), CC cleaner, and numerous scans with the installed AV program (Norton Security Suit) all have which have turned up nothing..I have checked the disk for errors..nothing! It is just slow/slow/slow and the rest of the Windows 10 computers in the house on the same network are working fine.. What else might I try before this particular Dell Computer gets delivered to a local recycle station with instructions "Do Not Revive" written on it.. Any and all ideas appreciated.. And yes.. the warranty that I had for this product expired several months ago..imagine that.. Are we in the age of throw away computers?

  • You didn't mention how much memory/Ram your computer had. From what I have found on our home computers is that 8 gigs is the minimum you'd want to run Windows 10.
  • Reinstall Windows, it works wonders!

Download the media tool from Microsoft, no need to make a CD or anything.
  • One of the reasons that computers slow down is that there are too many programs running in the background. Consider using the task manager function to view what's operating.

Also - CC cleaner has the ability to identify/control the programs that load up when you start the computer - you might consider disabling some of those and see if that resolves your problem. This might take some experimentation to find the solution. It's likely some of your programs don't get along with each other. I find that Windows Defender and Malwarebyte is sufficient to protect my computer.

    Hope this helps.
