I do the same thing by unplugging the power and then plugging back in. I need to make sure next time that I have the receiver powered up before I plug in the dome power and see if that makes it faster.

I am not sure what causes it but if it didn't find the satellite within a few minutes, I unplug the domes power (not the cable), wait a few seconds and plug it back in and it usually finds it.
