I just got my Pathway X2 and a VIP211Z today via UPS but I have spent most of the day trying to fix my Aqua Hot system that went belly up just as the cold air is sweeping in here in the NW. I think I have that resolved if I can get the part tomorrow so I may be able to play with it in the next couple of days. Certainly this weekend at the latest.

You can add a second receiver and it will be added to the same account as the first. There is a $7/month (+/- $1) fee added to your account for the second receiver and it will mirror the services available on the 1st receiver.
When the Pathway does its search the entire housing rotates. The 18" antenna is under that one flat side so it will rotate the entire housing until that flat part is pointing toward the S and finds the required satellites.

Whoa--I would've expected much better than that!

Just downloaded the manual, and I noticed that the whole thing does seem to rotate when searching. Must be fun to watch!

The manual also says not to paint the radome, which completely spoils it for me. I've got my little Tailgator painted up in three-tone camo. Set it 100-feet away and you can't find it!

Oh yeah, if the Tailgater needs to change sats for a channel change, it can take a bit, but it's better than nothing!

I have been using a tailgater for some time and don't like the long time it takes to change sats after a channel change. I received a Pathway x2 around the first of this month and set it up in our back yard. No luck as it wouldn't turn 360 to find any signal. Sent it back and received a 2nd x2 just before the current trip that we are on. The first time I sat it up it did rotate the full 360 but didn't find any signal with an open clear sky. The tailgater sitting at the same location did work and was used for the next several days.

We are now in a different part of Arkansas and tried it again but still it will not lock on to any signal where the tailgater does from the same location. When we get back home I will call Winegard again to see what they will do.

Okay, looking a the Winegard link, two things jump out at me:

First, it whips with a 25-ft cable, not the 50-footer that the Tailgater ships with--which I replaced with 100-ft, with not issues. But possibly the Pathway X2 requires more power through the coax, and won't tolerate a longer run?

Secondly, there's a note that you can't watch ANY two channels simultaneously, they ghave to be on the same bird, and I never have that kind of luck. There goes football+ski racing.

Certainly all dishes have problems with trees at times, but having the choice of either arc at significantly different azimuths means you have a better chance of finding a useable hole. Where I'm located right now, my 1000.4 dish can only see the eastern arc birds (61.5, 72.7, 77). If I only had a western arc head, the dish would have to be located in the middle of a neighbor's site. Fortunately, I have both heads on hand.
