Started full timing a few months ago. Did without TV for a couple of months then bit the bullet and bought the Winegard Pathway X2 with Dish TV. Have used Direct TV for many years and wish I had never changed. We have been traveling in the West the last couple of months. We bought 2 receivers as the Pathway supports this. It has been so frustrating because if one of us gets a good signal the other one gets "jewelry sales" channels. I am sick of DISH TV. We spend hours on the phone with techs and still nothing gets done. I am ready to eat the cost of the Pathway X2 and switch back to DTV.Anyone else have problems like this? I'm sick of paying for something that I'm not getting!

Typically, if we are running two tvs off of the pathway, we try to keep it on Sat 129. That is almost all of the HD channels (not including locals). For locals we use the antenna.If one tv gets a good signal the other should, too. They should also both get the same channels. If one is only getting 'jewelry sales' I would check the tv and receiver: make sure the receiver can access all the satellites, or at least the sat you are watching, and make sure the TV isn't on antenna.

I wish they would drop the "analog to digital tv" "Sticky" and add one for Dish vs Directv advantages, disadvantages, etc. People could make an educated decision before getting satellite service or switching. The equipment and connections are so much different. I'm not a rep for Directv but it appears from reading all of the problems, that in MY opinion and experience, Directv is easier to connect in a RV. I think folks like being able to put out a little cube and get HD easily. Good luck with your decision.

There is no 'little cube' one can put out and get HD easily with Directv - only Dish. For HD with Directv, one would need a manual dish or a permanently mounted automatic dish.

We've had a Tailgater with DISH and worked great.Opted for the Pathway X2 a couple of years ago to get the bigger dish, both E & W arcs and to have 2 TV's working.Works great and no issues so not sure what the OP's problem is.

That's what I meant....folks seem to like Dish better because of the little cube. You're absolutely right, no little cube for Directv. I could go into the ease of setting up a slimline 3 dish on a tripod for directv but won't as there is a lot of info regarding that on this forum. Again, good luck.

I enjoy my little cube (tailgater). I change the locals where ever I go and record the local news to get the local weather forecast. I haven't had to raise my antenna in our 8 traveling months over the past two summers.

You need to first understand the difference between “DirectTV” and “Dish”. With “DirectTV” you will be not able to receive any HD stations using a single portable dish. With “Dish” the X2 is capable to receive HD stations being “Dish” uses a total of only three (3) sats in the Eastern Arc and three in the Western arch while “Direct“ uses a total of five (5) (I believe but not positive). With the X2 hooking up two receivers makes the X2 look for and use the Eastern Arc for the three Sats needed. Being the X2 only has one “LNB” (the receiving portion of the dish) instead of the stationary receivers having three (3) lNBs. the dish has to change aim each time it has to move to a different sat.

As mentioned within the owners manual of the X2, when using two (2) receivers, the second receiver will only be able to watch stations (or channels) that are broadcast on the same sat. You can go to http://satmaps.satelliteguys.us to get a listing of stations on each satellite you will be using to help understand what stations (or channels) are available on each satellite.

I have the X2 and am pleased with the performance.

Not exactly sure what the OP's issue is BUT - I have an X2 also and am very happy, although I have not hooked up 2 TVs at once.

1 thing to remember - The X2 has 2 cable outlets, so you can watch separate channels on two TVs, BUT the channels must come off the same satellite.

King now makes a Direct version of the tailgater called the King Quest. It's limited on the Direct receivers it supports. They also sell an addon controller that makes the Quest work with Dish and Direct and Bell ($99). Now the bad news. The Quest support for Direct HD is NONE. Not even with the addon controller. You only get Direct SD...period. The Quest is out of the box a Direct SD. When you add the addon controller, it will pickup both Dish and Bell SD and HD.
