Yup we love ours. About the only thing that stops the signal is the tree trunk itself.

That's VERY interesting, where were you when those pics were taken? We just had the Wineguard installed on our fifth wheel last November, so it's still pretty "new" to us!

We were just in Fontainebleau SP last week, the DW asked me to deploy the dish, with all the trees (most were still pretty bare) I figured we wouldn't get any signal. Well I was wrong!! Great signal even though it was through the mostly naked trees but it made me think. ...And with your pictures I guess I'll have to give every scenario a try.

Note that the dish is a part of a parabola and sees the satellite about 24 degrees above the angle of the arm/LNB. So you need to look for an opening higher than you might expect.

We're not there anymore so can't update the strengths. For 4 days, we never lost signal, even in strong winds - I thought we would too. I'm sure rain would have wiped it but I've found that I can change to Standard Definition and keep a signal in such storms.

Only purpose was to share amazement that it worked, and this wasn't the first time.

Let us know how a signal that weak performs, especially if the wind blows.

50-60 is not very strong. A small rain shower may put you out of a picture.
Is that signal on the 99,101 or 103?

I have no trouble setting up my dish, but with this being said I would get an automatic dish in a heartbeat if it was portable (I park under trees too often as I am now) and worked with HD on DirecTv. So far no one makes one, but I'm keeping my eyes open.

Belgique - we too have the Trav'ler and as long as we can get a small window through the trees, we too get a signal. Love being able to just push a button to get satellite. Prior to this, we bought a satellite dish on a stand. You know, the kind where you have to manually find the satellite? Well, after an hour of struggling with it, DH took it all back and said it's not worth the struggle. We camp to relax and not fight with finding a signal. Fast forward, when we installed the dish. Amazing!
