Winegard Trav'ler dish and theft?

Hi. We're getting ready to put the winegard Trav'ler dish on our rv. This is an impressive looking piece of gear with no real way of securing it beyond the mounting screws. I know a thief will get what they want when they want it bad enough. I was just wondering if anyone had heard I'd these things are appetizing targets for thieves. I'm sort of committed now since the thing is sitting in my living room begging to be installed. It would just make me feel better of a bunch of people said things like "had mine for 5 years and its still there!" :)

I thought about getting the carry out version but I thought that one would be really easy to walk away with plus this one finds the satellites for you, puts itself away etc...

Thank you.
Ed and Jess.
  • Lol. I'll do that. Hoping the rain will stop long enough to let me get out there and gt it done. Getting it up there will be half the battle.

    Thanks for the responses.

  • Once you get it up there and mounted, get back to us with your opinion if a thief would really want to do that in the reverse. Getting it up and down is half the fun..
  • had mine 5 years and it is still there ... really ... I bought it with the tax rebate check we got back then
  • Many of us own Carryouts and Tailgaters and I have never heard anyone say they had one stolen. I have a 20' dog tie out cable that I put on mine sometimes to slow someone down a little. But most times I put it out and don't worry about it.
  • That would be quite a project for a thief, but it someone really want's anything you own they are going to take it. It's more likely they will break in and take all of your TV's and assorted electronics as they can do this in stealth mode and fairly quickly.
The Trav'ler is going to require ladders and wrenches and help getting it down. I have never heard of such an event but I would never say never.
