I see no reason to judge your choice so I am just laying out the facts here.
As the Trav'ler comes out of the box, the underside is open to the weather and MUST be sealed. Winegard makes a base plate that you could caulk and screw in place or a large piece of plywood would work as well. This setup is going to be about 45" long and 30" wide (even wider for a DTV antenna) and weigh in at over 50 pounds (not 80). I have seen it done and it's very easy, just bulky. I would not attempt to put it on any kind of tripod but the ground would be fine if you use the Winegard metal base plate or some sort of saw horse setup if you use plywood. From the Winegard you would have a fixed control cable but you could easily install a 6 prong plug (not me, but an electrician could) that would make the cord a little easier to handle. You would then run coax from the coach to the antenna but again, easily modified with some couplers.
If you have the space for the beast to fit and you think the people using it could handle it then it's really a simple way to "have it all".
