As I said in my post, I think that more testing is needed to come to a conclusive result. I have another Batwing antenna, but it is not amplified. I don't know the gain of the preamp in the amplified version, so testing that one would not prove anything.

IF you prove your amplified batwing IS good, the delta between the two will get you gain.

Also if you have a set of 75ohm pads laying around (like 10db), try those in and out of line post power supply. That should show you what influence, if any the Rx AGC is having. If it doesn't perfectly track, then you'll know its skewing your test.
