- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIThe Pathway X2 has a 3rd option which allows 2 Dish customers to use 2 different receivers on 2 different TV's and watch (nearly) anything they want at any time. The X2 can be set to 2 receiver mode and the antenna will point to the Dish 72.7 satellite. All of the Dish programming is available from this one satellite allowing both receivers to pick their programming.
The caveat is that there is no Network programming on 72.7 so you would use the OTA antenna for that. - wa8yxmExplorer IIIALL dome type are for one TV only with dish.. SOME can work with multiple tv's on DirecTV but not on DirecHDTV. (none work on direcHDTV at this time).
Winegard X2 is a larger dish and can see both eastern and western arcs. Larger dish means stronger signal, Ability to see eastern Arc means if I visit my little Sister (Cape Cod) it will still work. Not that I use Sat TV.
Domes only work on DISH with multiple receivers IF all shows you want to watch or record are on the same satellite, I you want a show on say 119, and your Signiicant other wants a show on 110.. Somebody will be unhappy. - Kenc_ALExplorer

The X2 supports two Dish VIP receivers watching different channels on the same satellite. The X2 also has a significantly larger reflector, making it more immune to rain fade than the Tailgater due to the stronger signal. The X2 also works with both the Dish eastern arc and western arc satellites, giving it more positioning flexibility compared to the Tailgater. All in all, the X2 is a better deal all the way around. The only con I can think of, is that it needs a larger storage space.
X2 - I bought the X2 in December, on the road 7 weeks since and very happy with it. Two huge pluses is the larger reflector and being able to hit either the Western or Eastern sats dependent upon where the trees are located. One other minus on the X2 - limited to 75' coax cable. I have not yet run into that issue but is in the instructions and I have seen it posted by others on this forum. - hindesExplorerI have the x2 and am very pleased with it. It works very well.
- JaneNLeeExplorerThanks Bill&Kate- it does look like the x2 is the winner..... Happy RVing
- Bill___KateExplorerWe had a Tailgater, and sometimes got frustrated trying to get a good signal - especially when we were in upstate New York. Got an X2, and there is a world of difference - it has a much larger antenna that, when placed side by side with the Tailgater, pulls in a signal double in strength. As mentioned above, it also can get the southeast satellites as well as the southwest satellites which gives you a choice when there are a lot of trees or other obstructions around, and are also higher off the horizon when you are up in the northeast ... Worth the extra $100 in our opinion ....
- JaneNLeeExplorerThanks for the info on the reconditioned Tailgater.
Jane is originally from Syracuse....Tell the great State of NY hi for me, and thanks for the info
Happy Rving - JaneNLeeExplorerThank you. I will consider going with the Winegard X2. Happy Rving
- nylyonExplorerI went with the Tailgater, but technically the X2 has better specs. You can get a tailgater (refurbished) for $265
