Winegard Wingman!

I'm confused! Went to the local Rv Dealer to get a Wingman. He informed me that it wouldn't work on my Winegard Sensor because it might not be Digital? Why wouldn't it be Digital?/If the wings are Alumiumn and are not painted White, it is not Digital was his reply! Any truth to that? My Montana is a 2004.
  • Quick question. I know I am not the shiniest bangle on the belly dancer, but I don't understand how the Wingman is connected to the Wineguard. I just went in the nearly 100 degree heat and installed mine. You remove the three rubber feet from the Wineguard, match up the holes on the Wineguard and Wingman, and insert rubber plugs to snap them together. How is it actually making any connection? I don't see any metal parts touching. Is this another one of those laws of sound wave physics that I don't understand?
  • It is magic, and as you suggest is RF which is difficult to explain. Sticking your hand out the window in the wind you can direct air into the car. The Wingman does the same thing essentially. It directs more signal into the antenna.
  • I checked the prices: My local Dealer wants $26.95 for the Wingman and $59.95 for the Jack that fits on the Wingard Bracket. Found the Jack on Internet for $38 at Amazon with FREE shipping! Will go the Jack route! I have an Analoge Converter for both TV's!

Most CG's we stay at have Cable but our favorite only has it in the old area, with to many trees.
  • Dealer is an idiot. No other equipment is needed to install the wingman. Can be done in about 5 minutes once the ladder is set up.

I guess I am just slow or didn't time it correctly, in either case the dealer giving out that info is still an idiot.

Sorry. My intent was to support your statement that it takes hardly anytime, not contradict it. I installed mine yesterday, and like you said, setting up the ladder took more time. I added the video for the other guy so he could see that there was no other part needed for the installation.
  • Ordered the Jack from Amazon. Got it free by signing up for their Credit Card. Will never use and cancel in a few months. At my age a dent in the Credit Score is no biggie! Also watched the video on installing it! Almost as easy as Wingman! lol

Camping World offered to Install either the Wingman or Jack FREE as part of the Sale!

BUT: They are 2 1/2 hrs away!
  • Contacted Winegard Tech Support! Their reply was that ALL Winegard RV Antennas will receive both Analogue/Digital Signals. The Wingman just enhances the reception of the UHF Signal that Many of the Digital TV Stations now transmit on! The NEW Winegard Antennas have a built in component that does the same job as the Wingman!

I'm in the process of Canceling my Jack Order and will get a Wingman!
