Yahoo now wants phone# to get an email account

I use only yahoo email accounts to access anything internet. Been doing it for years. This keeps my personal email totally free of spam. I have not had a spam email in my personal email for over 18 ye...

I don't think it is, I know it is, but what does that have to do with Yahoo mail and the need for a telephone number.
