As others have said ... get a gmail.com and/or an outlook.com email account. Not only do I have my "private email account" but I have gmail, outlook, and a gmx.com email account. All are free and are not intrusive. These email accounts are used for forums, registrations, etc and if I get spam it's no big deal cause it doesn't affect my private email. Besides, the accounts listed above have mechanism for filtering spam, etc. I do have a yahoo.com email which I got many years ag0 (before they asked for phone #s).
The other good thing about all those email accounts but NOT yahoo is that I can use an email client like Thunderbird using POP3 protocol to download my emails to my PC. With Yahoo you have to pay for that capability.
