I also believe Outlook.com still allows you to forward emails to another email provider, so that's another option. As mentioned, you can use an email client, but limited to POP3 access unless you use MS proprietary client for IMAP like access. Basically, POP3 doesn't allow access to all your folders as IMAP would.
Outlook.com has also previously stated that they do not scan emails for marketing purposes. I'm guessing, at least for now?
I looked at signing up with the outlook email and it is microsoft. I have firefox for my browser will it work with that?
