Your Experience With Dish Satellite

I have really had it with DirectTV and am considering moving to dish. I would like to know your experience with Dish. When you call customer service: Do you get a different answer from each different agent you talk to?; Do they speak English; what is your overall experience.
  • I call, cable and the two satellite companies all evil empires (they all have the same basic content). We have had Dish for about 5 years and pleased with them. If they would get NFL Sunday Ticket they might be perfect. Several times I've needed help I've been happy with the person on the other side of the phone
  • Have had Dish at home for many, many years. Have not had to use customer service too many times, but never a problem when I did.

Have had Dish with a Tailgater in the RV for about 6 years, and again never a problem with customer service. And I do call rather than chat. Any time we have been outside our home spot beam I have called Dish, give them our new location, ask that they change our service address, and have local network channels from the nearest major city within a few minutes.

And they have always spoken good English. One very nice lady I spoke with had what sounded like a nice mid western accent. When I ask where she was located, she said the Phillipines.
  • I have used Dish with a Dish tailgater satellite for the last five years. No complaints really, sometimes when calling for an issue, you get someone from the Philippines call center but they speak English well. Only issue I had was with the first tailgater I had quit working after about six months, but after troubleshooting on the phone with me they determined it was an internal issue. I sent it back and they overnighted me a brand new one free of charge.
  • I have had Dish at my stick home for 20 years and in my home on wheels for 2 years. No problem s with either. Set up takes about 5-10 min. and their customer service people all spoke good English. Any changes to our channel packages was done quickly and easily. Some times it seems like I pay a lot of money for TV, but it works good.
  • I switched to DISH about a year ago and prefer it over DTV.

A little cheaper; no HD or DVR fee.

Best advantage is a WInegard Pathway X2 carryout sat antenna gets both eastern and western arcs in HD. $400

There are no auto carryouts for Directv HD.

Agents are usually American but sometimes you get overseas.

I never really had a problem with Directvs agents.
