Your Experience With Dish Satellite

I had been a DirecTV customer since 1995. The price kept getting higher and higher. Yes, every other year you can call and complain and they will reduce it a bit. But, they would never get the PAC-12 network and I was paying a premium to get the BEIN network so I could watch MotoGP and World Super Bike from around the globe. So, I switched. Yes, Dish doesn't carry Maverick TV (oh well), but they have everything else, for almost $50 less per month. And, my receiver works in my TT, too. I've been pleased with Dish service so far (a bit longer than a year).

I've had both, on dish networks it was pay by the Month with a tailgater, the billing period was 27th of each month, If we went on a trip on the 20th of the month and wanted sat to work we had to pay 113.00 for 7 days and another $113 for the next 30 days, we had uverse at home. when att bought direct tv, we switched to direct tv and added a box for the stationary road trip on the roof of this rv, 7.00$ a month is much better than $113 for 30 days and with direct tv we don't have to call every month. For us the direct tv is better because it's what we have at home. the setup for the dish networks took about 30 min to setup including the programming download and guide. With the roadtrip dish, it locates the sat with no input from the box, in 5 min you're watching tv.

I have been with Dish since they launched their first Satellite in the '80s. Have no problem and you can do most things on the Internet bypassing the call center, The only annoyance I have when using the call center they want sell me everything they offer-- and sometimes the don't understand NO. But their reception is first rate and now they have several satellite in the sky like the eastern and western arc which provide flexibility for aiming my dish when RV'ing.

X2 on good service with Dish. No complaints other than the programming lineup as others have mentioned; same shows over and over.

Had a receiver go bad, contacted Dish, they told me they would send out a new receiver. Asked them what I should do with the old receiver and was told since I owned it, I could just throw it away. Later got a bill for the amount of the receiver. When I called to inquire, I was told I was supposed to return it to them. After some back and forth, they did the right thing and cancelled the bill (it was their mistake telling me I could throw it away; glad they record phone calls)

Been very pleased so far with Dish, for the above instance and the reasons mentioned by others.

I make a phone call to any business as little as humanly possible. I have had DTV for 15 years and not really much to complain about.

We have had both satellite tv providers over the last couple of decades and switch back and forth every few years for new equipment and promotional pricing. Really not much difference between the two as they use the same tactics for the most part.

We are currently with Dish Network as Directv refuses to carry a couple of sports networks that show live games from the universities my DW and I attended. Other than that channel line-up is pretty much the same with pricing after promotions expire nearly identical.

When RVing we always set-up our own HD sat. antenna mounted on a tripod, been doing it so long now it takes but a few minutes to have all the same channels we have at home in glorious HD. One major advantage is portable dome satellite finders can acquire Dish in HD, none deliver Directv in HD.

I had to call Dish last week because I hadn't had my receiver connected for several months and it needed a software update. You young man I was talking to was very helpful and walked me through the process. While the software was loading, I asked him where his office was located. I was surprised to hear it was the Philippines. His English was better than mine...

Anyway, I've been a Dish customer for three years now, and I'm pretty satisfied with them.

We have Dish: Tailgater for RV, roof satelite at home. Whenever there is some kind of problem, customer service stays on the line with us for as long as it takes. They never seem to be out of patience.

My bill is $125 for 190 channels plus local channels. We have a 2-line recorder in the TV room plus a Tailgater-compatible receiver (which we take with us in on RV trips) in the kitchen.

We have Dish for our Travel'r satellite on our fifth wheel. We've found that when we don't use it for a couple of weeks, that we have to call in and have them send a code to our receivers and they have always been prompt and courteous.

We had Direct TV and then later Dish TV and both are pretty much identical. They both jack you around, keep raising rates, and just keep showing the same reruns. After experiencing both, we finally went back to normal over-the-air antenna TV. Its saved us a ton of money, and we have no hassles at all now.

It's been more than 4 years ago now we dropped Dish TV. Sometimes, when we stay at a KOA campground they will have cable TV. I'll go ahead and plug it in. Our favorite was HGTV when we had satellite. We find it extremely frustrating when we have cable, flip to HGTV, just to find out they are STILL showing the same absolutely identical shows, and just repeat the same thing over and over. Some shows we watched were reruns we remembered when we paid for it! And actually, I go ahead and unhook the campground cable, and just go back to over-the-air.

Did I mention how much they raised their prices, again and again and again, and we stripped out everything but the absolute basic service, and we were still well over $100 a month! It just sucked!
