There are diesel engines than can tolerate some gas in the fuel and ones that cannot.
Usually the older engines are more tolerant than the newer ones. I have no idea where the OP's engine lies on that spectrum, so I'm not going to attempt to advise him on what to do.
I am simply not familiar with the OP's engine family. One engine family I AM familiar with is Volkswagens TDI engines. If you have one of the early ones, say 1995 or so, a few percent gasoline was even recommended for winter use. On the other hand, if you have one of the 2008 and later ones, even a few percent gas is very likely to destroy the high pressure fuel pump, resulting in thousands of dollars in damage. Proper advice to owners of the two different engines would certainly differ.
