Over the years I have been told by others about this same problem. Every one told me that running any gas in the diesel has damaged injectors.
I remember a number of years ago when the Environmentalists (EPA) required refineries to stop putting Power Service type additives in winter blend No 2 diesel. That is when all of us had to start buying Power Service Additive (there are also now other brands) to add to diesel in the winter. In the first year a few of our neighbors decided to just add a little gas to their diesel tanks on the trucks and tractors to save the cost of Power Service Additive. It was easy since every ranch has both diesel and gas bulk tanks on hand.
All of them who did this soon had diesel injector repairs required. I also remember that our ranch fuel bulk supplier provided Power Service on the Tank Wagon when delivering Diesel fuel, starting in the Fall and through Spring, that first year to make sure we had a supply to buy when the refineries were forced to stop adding anti-gel aditives.
I buy a 35 gallon drum of Power Service for each of my two ranches every fall to this date, to use in our tractors and trucks. We also carry a gallon of Power service in our over the road Semis every winter for addition when fueling at truck stops. We never allow gas to contaminate Diesel.
