If I know that I am not using it for a while like over the winter I fill it up and then drive around for a couple miles and then drain it. I repeat that process until the water comes out clean. You would be surprised how much is still left in the tank after it is drained. I during the summer I leave a couple gallons in the tank after I saw how much poop and paper is left in it.
