Our first RV experience was a rental. Two families. Each with 2 kids between 10 & 13. Two 30' class Cs rented. Two weeks rental starting & ending in Denver. We did a little over a 2000 mile loop, Denver, Colorado springs, S Colorado, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Hoover Dam, Vegas, Rocky Mtn Nat Park, Boulder & back to Denver.
At the end we were busted. Too little time trying to do too much. Besides travel days & jet lag you lose at least a day at the start picking up the RV & supplying it then another day on returning it.
Sure you can do the miles but have you allocated time to actually see where you are going. The Grand Canyon takes a full day. Bryce Canyon takes a full day doing both in a rush.
Thank you for the useful hints and advice!
Yes, our first RV experience will be a shorter loop: 2 weeks possibly "consacrating" to one Park only or maybe two. We are planning much more than one or two days per Park. We are thinking of renting 4 mountain bikes or 2 large quads to move around. In fact, we are posting on a quad forum/community to understand if we can rent them with the RV and if we a quad can carry 3 (2 adults and a child).
We had not considered supplying it! Blimey! We totally missed that! Douh! We will stop at a supermarket and stock up.
Any more advice on the type of RV? What is the best routine for cooking or sleeping or washing or... and driving. Can these be done while driving? Any other topics to cover for first timers?
