RV Rental - Good Experience - Camping World
We sold our travel trailer last year, and have not been able to justify buying another just yet, but the kids really wanted and deserved a RV vacation. So, I opted to rent a Class C from Camping World in Los Angles CA.
I had read some really mixed reviews from those who bothered to post. It had me a little concerned. Frankly, most of all the RV rental companies had mixed reviews. So I opted to reserve a 27' Class C from Camping World in mid June of 2012. The reservations were easy and quick.
On the day I was to pick up the RV, I was met by a rep who right away showed me to a 2012 Class C. It was clean, well equipped, and everything worked. I am experienced with RV's so I really didn't need a comprehensive tutorial.
The RV ran great with an average MPG of 8.5 MPG. The AC worked well, as did the fridge. The only complaint if any was there are air bag helpers located on the rear axle. When driving up the central valley along the 5, the winds were throwing me all over the road (35MPH+). I stopped at a truck stop, and checked the pressure in the air bags. One was at 35lbs, the other was at 0. I inflated both to 65 lbs, the rear of the RV raised up about 2". From this point on, the wind was never an issue. The RV drive straight and true.
One of the comments I read about (cautionary) was that Camping World would nickel and dime you to death on damages when you turned the RV in. That was not the case at all. Upon returning the RV, I had given it a respectful wash (nothing major, just a quick scrub) and did a light cleaning on the interior. I was again met by the rep. Cleaning people swarmed all over it, cleaning, checking all the systems etc. No issues at all. No extra charges, no nit picking. Just sign here and you are good to go.
Over all in the 1800 miles we drive in the 11 days we used the RV, it it was a real pleasure.
Kudos to Camping World.
