Advice welcome for Newbie

We are set to take off in Spring. We already have our trailer registered to our LLC as will our truck when we find it. Seems everyone has different opinons about LLC's, what's legal and whats not. I'm not looking to piss any states off, but I figured if I could get an LLC and it was legal, why not. But mail and insurance needs to be arranged too and I'm not sure of the do's and dont's for that. We may be RV'ing for a few months or longer, all depends on if we find a dream home. Any advice on how to do all this would be greatl appreciate.

  • I guess I just never fully understood the whole LLC thing. Being registered in Illinois we pay $50 a year for RV plates and we don't pay state tax on pensions. I guess if you were purchasing a new RV you could cheat that state out of their sales tax, but wouldn't that be about the only benefit?

Heck, I am just so thrilled to not be paying over $4,000 a year in property taxes I'm good.
  • We may wind up buying a house in Montana so it seemed to likely choice. If its legal to have the LLC how can another state say its not? I dont get it?
  • You will need to do a lot of reading as many states are now vigorously pursuing those who attempt to dodge taxes through this means.
  • The LLC was recommended by friends. We dont own any home anywhere right now. Just want to try and do things right.

Llc? Seems there are a lot of abbreviations around here. Is there a place to learn them?

    LLC- Limited Liability Corporation

If you want to learn the other abbreviations, look under RVingFAQ above ^^^^^^

  • Hmm.. newbies don't generally get LLC's and take off for a few months. You need help with the other stuff you mentioned?
