If it moves a few inches and hen stops; the motor and control systems are OK. Something is jamming the awning itself and the current draw sensors are shutting it down. The sensors think it is full-open and are doing their job.
Finding a jam can be time consuming and, if not done correctly, can damage the awning, arms, motor, and/or controller.
