For those who have made their own...
after painting, would adding a clear coat (like automotive) make things a too slippery? I'm thinking of using my own design on the board, but would need something like a clear coat to give an even surface once completed since it would be something on top of the background paint.
Most people use polyeurthane or Polycrylic
or go 100% exterior

Each rung is worth a different amount of points. the bottom rung is worth 1 the middle is 2 and the top is 3. We get some shoe lace and string two golf balls on it. then Melt the ends so the golf balls dont fall off. Then we throw the balls at the rungs from about 15-20 feet away. When you throw them it makes a little "swooshing" noise(hence the name of the game). The first one to 21 points wins. But if you go over 21 or bust as we like to call it you g0 back down to 15. Its a reallly fun and cheap way to spend an evening with the family. A little off topic but such a fun game I thought id share it
Most places it is called Ladder Golf. Your homemade set is probably less expensive but you can see commercial sets here :Ladder Golf at Amazon
Not quite as noisy as cornhole until the adult beverages and flood lights come out. Enjoy your camping. - ChrisWaExplorerThis may be a little off-topic for this thread but a game my family likes to play when we go camping is what we call "swoosh"(lol). basically its PCP pipe glue'd together and it has three rungs and a nice wide base so it doesnt flip over. Update.....
We found a bean bag set at Wally for $15. It was on end of year sale. It came in a bag and the tables fold, not as big as Cornhole, but it works. We played it and it was fun.
Nice find! - LindanMickExplorerUpdate.....

- goreds2ExplorerHere is a review on a different set of plastic boards than what I mentioned in a previous post.
Here is a quote from it.
" Obviously you are not going to get the same bounce, slide and reaction as the wood boards and bags, but it is really really close. There is only one complaint I have about the boards, but it is nothing that changes the way it plays. The boards have a locking mechanisim that clasps the two boards together. If it were a little longer I think it would hold better and be a lot easier to carry the two boards at once.
Overall I would highly recomend getting this board set if you are going to the beach or you will be playing in crazy weather elements. This is a must have cornhole set to go along with your wood boards. "
