Auto locking refrigerator?

I just read that Dometic refrigerators automatically lock when you turn the ignition on. Is this required by law? Can you get around it? Being from NH (live free or die) and after hearing the TV won't work while moving, I'm losing interest in this whole idea.

  • Small world, Grand Rapids is where I'm flying Tues. to pick up my unit and drive it back to NH. Never been to your fine state but I see the I-96 closure is getting a lot of press.
  • Congrats on your new RV!

I"m a sample size of 1... hard to say what the crazy nanny state is up to out there. Any sort of interlock on the fridge if it really exists, will be easily defeated as well.

The TV off while driving is an old law, at the federal level I think... easily defeated however. It cracks me up... my new truck must have a 100 buttons I can push and turn while I'm driving, but the nanny state won't let me use the touch-screen keyboard on the built in navigation... how are those buttons different from the countless others... ugh.
  • Thank you! that sort of stuff really rubs us the wrong way. I could just picture me having to pull over and kill the engine every time my wanted some cream for her coffee. We pick our first RV up Tues.
  • Sounds like horse hockey to me. My Dometic auto locks, in that there's a springy tab that snaps into a groove when you close it, so the door won't open without you pulling back on the tab... but there's no sort of ignition lock on it, and it's from 2013.
