Take your wife and a pair of walkie talkies to an empty parking lot and start practicing. When backing, place your hand at the bottom of the wheel. Turn the wheel in the direction you want to trailer to go. Explain to your wife that if you do not see her in the mirrors you do not move. And mean it! She becomes your spotter, looking for branches, obsticles etc. It is her job to park you where you need to be.
