Best type of torque wrench

DW doesn't know it yet, but she is buying me a good torque wrench for my birthday next month. Never having had a need for one, my research shows two types available. One has a pointer on a Guage and the other a twist type of setting. Any advantage of one over the other?

  • To make the wrench more accurate for a longer time, be sure and relieve the tension by setting it back to zero. The beam types are cheaper but a pain to use.

  • The kind where you twist the knob to set the value you want and the wrench "clicks" when you reach the set point is my preference.
  • Buy the most expensive one on sale for half price.. I set the hand dial to what I want, and the wrench tells me when I reach that limit.
